About the event

Join us in Toronto for our inaugural annual symposium, organized in partnership with the Archdiocese's St. Monica Institute for Education and Evangelization, on the dual theme: "Moral Courage and Leadership in Challenging Times" & "The Church as a Joyful and Persuasive Moral Guide for Society."

CAPP-Canada will host a public evening event at the Newman Centre of the University of Toronto, on Friday, November 10, from 7-9 PM, and then reconvene for a full-day symposium in partnership with the St. Monica Institute on Saturday, November 11. See schedule for more program details.  Note that our Friday evening seminar is free, but a separate registration fee is required for the Saturday event.

The CAPP-Canada leadership team will also hold a pre-event dinner meeting for leadership team members, volunteers and their guests at 5 PM on November 10.

A seminar featuring Father Daniel Utrecht, author of

The Lion of Münster: The Bishop Who RoaredAgainst the Nazis

Friday, November 10

7:00-9:00 PM EST

Newman Centre

89 St. George Street, Toronto

We live in a time that calls for moral courage, and few exemplify such courage quite like Blessed Clemens August Graf von Galen and FranzJägerstätter. One was a bishop who defied the evil of the Nazi ideology. The other was executed for refusing to serve in Hitler’s war machine. Join us to learn more about what these holy people can teach us about facing the false ideologies of our own times and the need for leaders to live out the virtue of moral courage. This event includes a talk by von Galen’s English language biographer, Father Daniel Ulrecht, a priest of the Toronto Oratory.

MEET OUR SPEAKER, FATHER DANIEL UTRECHT

Father Daniel Utrecht is a priest of the Oratory of St Philip Neri, Toronto. He is a graduate of the University of Dallas (B.A., Philosophy), and the University of Toronto (Ph.D., philosophy). He joined the Oratory in 1980 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1985. Father teaches in Philip's Seminary, directed by the Fathers of the Oratory, and is Pastor of St Vincent de Paul Church in Toronto.
